There are several big ideas behind mySleepButton’s current and upcoming cognitive shuffle packs (as well as DIY versions). I’ve written some papers about these ideas before, and am currently co-authoring a new paper with Célyne H. Bastien on the subject. The theory we are developing is called the “somnolent information-processing theory“.
In mySleepButton 1.4.9, introduced last week, we resolved the mySleepButton crackling issue, that we had been tracking on our iOS support page, and that we had mentioned in previous blog posts.

Many sleep experts recommend removing smartphones, tablets, computers and smartwatches from the bedroom. This is primarily because many adults and children cannot resist interacting with such devices if they are nearby. And even if these people don’t use the devices, they might unconsciously be vigilant with respect to the device, which can potentially delay sleep.
